Designer Profile: Robin Charlotte Humphrey

Yet another talented designer I met at the Pasadena Bead and Design Show: Robin Humphrey!

Robin was in art school when she was given an assignment: sketch a dried angelfish. As she was sketching, she had an epiphany: what if the sketch wasn’t the art? What if the fish itself was the art?

After playing around with some resin, she began creating all sorts of nautically-themed jewelry.

When I saw Robin’s work at the PBDS, I was blown away! I’d never seen anything like it before. I particularly fell in love with Robin’s belt buckles depicting whimsical undersea scenes.

Robin gets all her fish from local pet shops (they pass naturally, so it’s a 100% cruelty-free process). She also works with other natural materials such as sharks’ teeth, snake vertebrae, and dried insects (also 100% cruelty-free).

Robin’s work embodies an imagination of rare quality. So if you’re in the mood for a little whimsy, a little fun, and a whole lot of imagination, get on board with Robin Charlotte Jewelry!

Ships Ahoy,
Olivia
