Wookit Wednesday: WearYourMusic.org

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

As promised, here’s one of the many cool links I found on ThisNext.com.

Wear Your Music Guitar String Bracelet
Wear Your Music Guitar String Bracelet with seal in 14K gold, starting at $300 at wearyourmusic.org.

The Wear Your Music Initiative is run by Relix Magazine(”The magazine for music”). They collect guitar strings collected from famous musicians that are taking part in the “Relix Band” and turn them into bracelets! 100% of the proceeds are then donated to the charity of the artist’s choice.

They’ve got strings from all kinds of artists from all kinds of genres: from Carlos Santana to John Mayer, from Ani DiFranco to Avril Lavigne. Personally, I’ve got my eye on a bracelet from John Mayer. Can you think of a cooler accessory to wear to one of his concerts?

Wear Your Music also has their own line of bracelets in all different colors. A portion of the sales is donated to MusiCares.

What a great way to make a statement about a great charity — and look good doing it!

Fashionably and Compassionately,
Olivia

Wookit Wednesday: ThisNext

Every once in a while, I hit a wall.

I can’t think of anything to write about and I just need to troll around the internet looking for ideas for things to write about.

That’s where sites like ThisNext come in handy.

ThisNext Screencap

ThisNext is a site where users can recommend products and show everyone in the World Wide Web their finds!

It’s a great place on the web to go if you’re looking for ideas. You can search recommendations by keyword or by popularity. There are tons of entries, and you know that they’re all legit because they’re recommended by people just like you!

As for me, I found a link to a great website… that you’ll find out about on next week’s Wookit Wednesday. :) Writer’s block, eat my dust!

Cryptically,
Olivia

Wookit Wednesday: Polyvore

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Have you ever picked up a piece of jewelry that you liked and wondered what in your closet it would go with?

Well, thanks to the creators of Polyvore.com, you don’t have to wonder anymore.

“Blinged Out” by Olivia

Here’s a set that I put together around this Miu Miu LBD. I just started with the dress, added some hot red shoes, and added jewelry to my heart’s content. Finish off with a cute zebra clutch and voila! eLivia is ready for a night on the town! I can’t wait to create more “fantasy” (read: things I could never afford) outfits for myself!

And for those who have trouble with their own wardrobes, you can clip any image, so you can even take pictures of your own clothes and work with what’s already in your closet. It’s a great way to cure the “I have nothing to wear” blues.

Polyvore is a great tool for figuring out what looks good together and what doesn’t. Not that I ever have that problem, myself. ;)

Always Put Together,
Olivia

Wookit Wednesday: alltherageonline.com

Wednesday, September 3rd, 2008

alltherageonline.com is an online jewelry retailer with an amazing selection and affordable prices!

If you’re looking to stay up with the latest trends, but don’t have a ton of money in your budget, alltherageonline is a good place to start.

I love that their website has a “best sellers” page so that you can see what everyone else has. It really helps to show you what the current trends are.

And for those of you who like to stay ahead of the trends, they also have a “The Latest” page that shows you all of the most recent items made available on their site.

My favorite piece so far on this site is the Silver and Gold-Plated Ring Pendant Necklace.

Silver and Gold-Plated Ring Pendant Necklace, $14.40 at alltherageonline.com.

It’s such a unique piece; funky and edgy. The colors are great for fall, and it’s versatile: it would go just as well with jeans and a t-shirt as it would with a great fall shirtdress.

So if you’re ready to stock up for fall, alltherageonline.com is a great place to start!

Wookit Wednesday: Novica

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Novica is a website affiliated with National Geographic. It sells the work of designers from around the world who would otherwise wither away in oblivion, far from the world’s eye. But Novica gives silversmiths and craftsmen like Buana from Bali the opportunity to show their work to a world hungry for new talent.

Buana
Buana
, a Balinese silversmith.

Buana has been working with silver for almost twenty years now. He lives in a region of Bali called the Gianyar Regency. Thanks to Novica, he is able to sell his jewelry to a much wider audience than he has in his native Bali.

Novica Face of the Moon Ring by Buana
Buana for Novica “Face of the Moon” Ring, $49.95 at novica.com.

Look at the intricate detail on Buana’s hand-carved cow bone ring. This piece is exquisite! And there are hundreds more artisans and designers worldwide that are featured on Novica. Only National Geographic could find work this unique and bring it to the world stage!

If you’re looking for a special gift for a savvy traveler, I highly recommend that you “wookit” this site.

Globally,
Olivia
